Apple Crumble Pie

Hello Everyone!!!

Apple Crumble Pie is one of those recipes where we can make use of the remaining apples on board before we receive our new provision store.

Usually, these apples are leftover from our fruit basket which has some defects due to bumps and bruises, You should not waste it. Your crew will surely love this Apple Crumble Pie, it will be gone before you know it.

Apple Crumble Pie

Prep. time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 45-50 minutes

Oven temp.: 180’C

Difficulty: Very Easy

Makes; 30 x 24 x 6cm Crumble Pie

Good for 12 crew

You will need;

30 x 24 x 6 cm baking tray, grease with unsalted butter

2 sheet (300grams each/20x30cm each) frozen puff pastry, thawed at room temperature for an hour.

*For the Crumble dough;

180 grams plain flour

150 grams white granulated sugar

100 grams unsalted butter, cut into cubes and chilled

*For the filling;

10 pcs. (approx.125grams each) apples, peeled and cored, cut into 1cm dice.

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

6 Tbsp. cornstarch

8 Tbsp. white granulated sugar

Direction;

Preheat oven to 180’C

Cover the baking dish with puff pastry, use a fork to pierce the puff pastry.

Using the tips of your finger, create a design around the edge of the puff pastry base.

Mix the crumble dough ingredients by hand or using a food processor until it becomes a crumbly texture.

In another bowl, mix the diced apples, cinnamon, cornstarch, and sugar. Spread the filling mixture evenly on the bottom of the puff pastry base.

Cover the apple filling with the crumble dough.

Baked for 40-50 minutes or until nicely browned.

Serve warm, top with vanilla ice cream and pralin.

Here’s how I do it;
