After my 1st Blogganniversary I decided to pause for a while in cooking to give way to a nice Sweet Sunny weather of Sweden. Please come and join me as I explore the summer beauty of Nynäshamn.
Nynäshamn is a special place to me. If you listen to a Swedish local on how they pronounce Nynäshamn, It will sound like “Nino’s Hamn” which means “Nino’s Port” if translated in english. Very cool ha? LOL! Somebody knew long before that a very special handsome guy will come to visit this port and blog a nice story about it. So, they named it after him.
Nynäshamn is a locality and the seat of Nynäshamn Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 13,510 inhabitants in 2010.
While interest in the area as a potentially useful port grew from the mid 19th Century, it was only with the opening of the railway to Stockholm in 1901 that Nynäshamn started to develop.

During the early 20th Century, Nynäshamn also became well known as a spa town, though most such facilities were closed down before the end of World War I. Main industries arrived through Telegrafverkets verkstäder (the factories of the Government owned telephone company ) in 1916 and an oil refinery built in 1928-29 by Axel Ax:son Johnson & Co. The latter still remains though under different ownership and under the name Nynas.
If you are wondering what cargo we are carrying?
It is BITUMEN ASPALT. Yes, you are right!
the Aspalt pavement on every streets of the World.

Nynäshamn, which lies about 60 km south of Stockholm, is well known for being one of the places on the Swedish mainland from where ferries to the island Gotland depart. This is a hugely popular destination for Swedes of all ages in the summer months. The Polferries terminal also offer regular routes to Gdansk in Poland. Several cruise ships on tours in the Baltic Sea also stay in the harbour, because they are too large to go into Stockholm.

Life in Nynäshamn is generally relaxed, in contrast to the bustle of Stockholm.

Nino, I seriously doubt anyone has talked about “Nino’s” port exactly the way you do w/your unique eye. Love how we got to know what your ship is transporting along w/ getting to see some of the sights and fresh fruits and veggies and flowers. LOL-and of course you had to include the Filipino nap!

Hi Nino – thank you for sharing all these wonderful photos of Nynashamn – summer just transforms these countries, doesn’t it? In the depths of winter it is hard to imagine all the fruit and flowers in such abundance – you live a very interesting life – it’s marvellous that you document it so well. Anyway, welcome to FF24 and Happy Fiesta Friday to you!!

=) Dhanyavaad, Indu! Glad you like it. And I also want to add that your Pancakes for Fiesta Friday #24 is a Thursday Swedish Desserts traditions. It is usually served as a compliment to Ärtsoppa, a Swedish Thursday dinner traditional soup. Onboard a Swedish ship, it is a crime not to cook Pancakes every thursday for dinner.
Happy Fiesta Friday!!!
