Roasted Pork Belly on Lemongrass

Roasted Pork Belly is one of the best part of  pig to roast.

Whether its charcoal grill or inside the oven, you’re still gonna get the nice sweet juice of it.

But laying it on a bed of crushed Lemongrass just make it perfect.

You’ll get those authentic southeast asian flavour that you’d always wanna come back, again and again…

Roasted Pork Belly on Lemongrass

Prep. time: 15minutes

Cooking time: 1hour 45minutes {if your porkbelly is thinner than the one I show here,

you should try to check it out on 1hour 30minutes. If thicker, then 2hours.

Difficulty: Very Easy

Makes; 12-15 slices

Good for 12 crew

You will need;

2 kgs. Pork Belly, cut the rind/skin to your desired thickness.

This will make it easy for you to sliced it when its cooked and ready.

4 stalk Lemongrass{Tanglad} cut into half and crushed.

2 tsp. tamarind soup powder {Filipino Sinigang Mix}

1 tsp. salt

2 Tbsp. freshmilk 3% fat or substitute with a mixture of 1Tbsp. evaporated milk and 1Tbsp. water.

Direction;

Prepare all ingredients. Switch on your oven to 180’C / 350’F.

On the roasting tray, line your crushed Lemongrass, lay your pork belly rind/skin side down on it.

Mix the tamarind soup powder and salt. Use this mixture to season your Pork Belly except on the rind/skin side.

Turn-over your Pork Belly and brush it with milk.{This will give your roast an appealing  golden brown finish.}

Throw it inside the oven and set your timer to 1hour and 45minutes.

The Food Industry Standard says “Internal temperature of pork meat at 90’C is ready and done.”

But the bamboo skewer says “You insert me and if no trace of blood is running after you pull me, it is done and ready.” 😉

Slice and serve with Garlic Soya Dip.

Here’s how I do it;

Whenever I’m crushing something with this meat tenderizer, I can’t help but think of Miley Cyrus.

On the roasting tray, line your crushed Lemongrass.

“If you are a Cookonboard, I highly recommend you to line your roasting tray with

aluminum foil and parchment paper. This will save your time, effort and above all,

fresh water onboard. “

Lay your Pork Belly rind/skin side down on it.

      It will cook even better and give your roast pork a nice and even golden brown finish.
      *magtagalog na ko ha, lapit na ko mag nose bleed. 🙂
      Ang kagandahan kasi sa Turbo Broiler ay umiikot ang init dahil sa fan kaya pantay ang luto. At para naman maging Crispy ang balat ng liempo ay siguraduhin mong tuyo ang balat.
